Professional Licensure

Professional Licensure Disclosure

Certain programs at Delta State University prepare students to apply for applicable licensure and/or certification examinations in the state of Mississippi. In order to comply with regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Education regarding professional licensure, Delta State University is required to make the following disclosure with respect to professional licensure outside the state of Mississippi.

Academic program leaders who operate units that offer academic programs reasonably assumed to lead to professional licensure or certification are responsible for determining whether their academic programs meet applicable state education requirements for professional licensure or certification. These disclosures indicate, as of July 2024, the states where the University has determined through reasonable, good faith effort that such programs:

  • Do meet the applicable professional licensure education requirements;
  • Do not meet the applicable professional licensure education requirements

Approval by the National Council for State Authorization and Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) does not extend to programs that lead to professional licensure. The licensure boards in individual states are responsible for establishing the requirements for licensure/certification for their state.

NC-SARA maintains a list of general contact information for state licensure boards to assist students in their regulatory compliance.  Programs customarily leading to licensure at Delta State University include the following:

BSW in Social Work
MEd in Counseling
BSN Nursing
MSN Nursing
DNP Nursing
BSEd Elementary Education
BSEd Secondary Education
MAT Teaching (alternate route)
